SpiralHeart 2008 Request for Ritual Arc Proposals

We will choose eight campers for the ritual arc team, with 4 campers who are more experienced in larger group rituals and four who are less experienced. We will ask:

• Have you attended at least one SpiralHeart Witchcamp? Which year(s)? Have you attended other Witchcamps?
• Have you taken a priestessing role (including drumming) in rituals of 10 or more people? If so, what is your experience?
• What is your experience in priestessing larger rituals (20+ participants)?.
• What is your experience in planning larger rituals?
• Why do you want to be on the ritual arc team?
• What do you want to gain from the experience?
• What is your growing edge? What do you see as your strong points?
• What ritual roles do you have experience in and which ones are you still learning?
• If you are selected for the ritual arc team, your answers to these questions will be shared with the team and mentors. If you are not selected, are you stilling willing to share your answers? (This will help the team to know who might best fill open roles at evening rituals.)

The Board will choose a moderator for the ritual arc selection process, who is not applying for the ritual arc team. This may be the same as the moderator for path planning (but in that case the moderator must not plan to apply for either ritual arc or path facilitation).

The moderator will eliminate deal breakers:

1. Past experience with this camper that indicates the person is disruptive to the camp, with no evidence of real change.
2. The person has not attended at least one SpiralHeart Witchcamp.
3. The camper has not taken a priestessing role in a ritual of at least 10 people.

The moderator will divide the applications into three groups:

• Group One of people who have had experience both in planning and in priestessing rituals of 20 or more people
• Group Two of people who priestessed or planned rituals of 20 or more people, but not both
• Group Three of people who do not have experience planning or priestessing rituals of that size

The ritual arc team will be drawn at random from two pools:

four people from a pool of more experienced people and four people from a pool of less experienced people. If there are at least four people in Group One, the more-experienced pool will consist of Group One and the less-experienced pool will consist of Groups Two and Three. If there are three or fewer people in Group One, the more-experienced pool will consist of Groups One and Two and the less-experienced pool will consist of Group Three.

The application deadline will be January 3 2008 for both path facilitators and ritual arc team members. Applicants may apply for both path facilitation and the ritual arc team (but will be chosen only for one).

At the March 8, 2008 meeting we will first choose the path facilitators (as described in the path selection document)and then the ritual arc team. Names of campers chosen as path facilitators will be removed from groups One, Two and Three; the more-experienced and less-experienced pools will be then formed as described above, and four names drawn publicly from each pool.
