Facilitator Biographies

Facilitators offering classes in the Mid-Atlantic region come from a variety of traditions, backgrounds, and talents. The following teachers (in alphabetical order) have volunteered information about themselves:

Alice:

Alice is a happy pagan teacher and magical practitioner, and a participant in Spiralheart activities since 2003. Her favorite magics involve mathematics, music, and baseball. Ritual practices with her generally involve fire and lots of singing.

Ann:

Ann is an eclectic Witch who loves to teach Magic and healing arts. She has co-taught Elements of Magic to all ages and has also co-taught Psychic Gifts classes. She is looking forward to sharing Magic with new friends.

Ayla:

Ayla is deeply involved in the Reclaiming and Alchemical Fire Circle traditions. She is a Visual artist and poet who is actively involved in the Baltimore arts scene. She has been teaching children with multiple disabilities for eleven years in a public school. One of the highlights of her summers has always been volunteering at the children’s village at Starwood. She is looking forward to this opportunity to bring her love of art, teaching and magic together at Wild Child.

Brydie:

Brydie loves to muddle around to find just the right words, music, drama to make a ritual work. Clear and crisp is her first idea; as every sound and movement fits, the ritual becomes a mystery.

She probably did this first in 1980 and has thought of herself as a rite writer ever since. Of course she was a Pagan at that time. She knew she was a witch. Only a few years later she identified herself as a Priestess of Isis. It has all been up hill toward Joy since then.

Christopher:

Christopher is a seasoned martial artist and a novice witch. He has been studying martial arts for over 20 years and the owner of Explosion Martial Arts and head instructor for 4 years. He teaches all ages a mix of martial arts along with self defense and cardio but teaching kids is his favorite. He loves to see the "light come on" for the kids when they pick up a technique.

Christopher has been a part of the pagan community for just over a year but he has felt at home in and with nature his entire life. He's been unknowingly studying Asian meditation, Native American shamanism and elemental magic most of his life. Now, with the guidance of his mentor, he is learning structure and discipline in his magic and energy work.

Dragonheart:

Dragonheart is an explorer of the magical realms with mystery nudging the way. He is a guardian soul that sets forth each day to experience the magic of life with family, friends, and allies. He has been exploring since childhood, discovered direction in his 20's, and found Reclaiming in his early 30's. Most days bring a new discovery, others are just fun.

Eva:

Eva Liane Foster - who usually goes by Eva, but is happy to teach people to pronounce Liane - began to manifest as a witch at age 10, but didn't begin to call herself one until age 59. Her magical teachers have included the Three Wyrd Sisters, a hundred or so SpiralHeart people, various cats and birds, the standing stones at Four Quarters Farm, and some very cool trees. Although she is devoted to Tenantzin and Nephthys, her first allegiance is to the Air elementals, whom she thanks for her gift of sacred storytelling. Eva makes her mundane home in Princeton, New Jersey, where Herb, Kate, Dobby, Remus, and Tiki support her in her work with the Evergreen Chapter of the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans.

Heather:

Heather is an eclectic lifestyle practitioner who is an intuitive reader, group facilitator, and Reiki healer from Charlotte, NC. Her years of experience include Tarot reading, designing rituals, Taoist meditation, and guided meditation. Her services as a reader, healer, and teacher are intended to provide opportunities for growth and transformation by empowering individuals to embrace their Authentic Selves. She enjoys pointing out the magic in the mundane by bringing awareness to our Spiritual natures through our human experiences. Her role as a web-weaver makes her a collector of fascinating people who add to her own growth and experience.

James:

James is a queer witch from Raleigh, NC. He is actively involved in the local community organization, the Raleigh Fruitcakes, and has participated in a number of public rituals and service projects with them. An intuitive witch who recognizes the need for all of us to embrace our working edges, he is firmly committed to the idea of personal growth.

Julia:

Julia is a preschool teacher in the mundane world, she brings a love of watching children explore the natural world around them. This will be her third witchcamp working with young children. Having been in this service at the two Dreamroads camps she looks forward to supporting the work of the youngest members of our tradition. As a member of Baltimore Reclaiming this Samhain, she priestessed the point of Birth from the pentacle of life, a role that draws on her daily experiences with children still completing their first turn of the wheel. As a healer and avid book lover she is drawn to the path of the bee. She is not surprised when small people know she speaks their language and does her best to interact with their big-people counterparts.

Mir:

Kelly Mir Kaufman has been a practicing Witch for many years. She is also a singer of songs, a maker of art, a cat mom, a perpetrator of many wild and unorganized gardens, and a part-time, though as yet unordained, UU minister. She has the dubious honor of having Coyote as a spirit companion; and, as such, tries to keep her distance from fine china and other breakables.

Martialyss:

Martialyss has worked in the mundane world under many an alias: Library Page, Literacy Specialist, Para-educator, Counselor, ESL Tutor, Teacher... the list is long due to her Aries Moon. With every position she has held, she has worked towards the betterment of our world through education. Her style of teaching understands that every individual's physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development is important; with the knowledge that a soul's emotional well-being is most important. Martialyss loves adventure, learning, and anything that is deliciously random. She is excited about the opportunity to participate in this year's Wild Child Witch Camp.

Watersong:

Watersong first identified herself as a witch when she was nine years old, but though it took nine years to put a name to her identity, she was born pagan. Nature has always been her truest friend- the one she instinctively trusted more than the musty prayer book put into her hands. She practiced as a solitary for 10 years before she found a loving community- Spiralheart. She has since attended every subsequent SpiralHeart camp (first as a camper, then a choir member, then the mistress of the Addictive Art Den, and most recently, the music resource) and is now honored to be a part of Wild Child as it takes its first few steps.

She believes that all things come from music. That it is our souls and very energy turned into sound. That the earth was sung into being, as we all were, and that music is the supreme vehicle for change. She comes to Wild Child this year hoping to add mystery, passion, and self-discovery to every ritual through music. She may not be the most skilled musician, but is a firm believer that there is no one who "can't" sing, or is "bad" at making music. Everyone has the right to make music and if nothing else, she hopes to bring this message to Wild Child.
