SpiralHeart WitchCamp 2008 has four instructional paths: Pentacle of the Crone/Sage; The Mystery of Devotion; Practical Magic; and Sacred Love, Human Hearts: Profound Intimate Relationships
This path uses a new tool—the Pentacle of the Crone and Sage—to explore the inner dynamic of the third stage of life as a personal reservoir of strength and transformation. We will explore the crone and sage energy that lies within all of us as either a potential or an actuality. It is a way of engaging with the world that people may choose in many places and times, no matter what their age, gender or situation in life.
We will braid inner and outer path work, using trance work, body mapping, storytelling, discussion, and devotion to explore the energies of authenticity, self care, discernment, cyclical awareness, and letting go as energies of personal transformation and tools for priestessing.
This path is intended for campers who identify as crones or sages and want to further explore and celebrate the third stage of life. It is also for campers who want to find out why the crones are so content to claim a status that the mundane world sees as a part of life to be feared and rejected (and why they have so much fun!)
This is an intermediate to advanced path but is not Reclaiming specific; all that is needed is a very basic understanding of pentacle and trance work.
This will be a path of devotion. We will empty and open ourselves to new fullness. We will ask the questions: What is devotion? To what or whom am I devoted? How do I understand and live my devotion? When we are in a state of devotion, what are we present to? What is present to us?
Using tools of trance, authentic movement, deep witness, voice/song/chant, dialogue, altar building and journaling, we will dive deep into Sacred Mystery, weigh our hearts, witness our stories, and plot our next moves. Witnessing the story of Lilith and immersing ourselves in magical community, we will inquire deeply about the relationships between self, community, and the objects of our devotion.
This path is meant for campers who are eager to participate and contribute in a way which brings out the talents and joys of each of us. Success in this will be rooted in our willingness as path participants to be open to Spirit and one another.
Familiarity with the Elements is highly recommended. Previous work with Iron Pentacle, Pentacle of Pearl or Rites of Passage would also be helpful but is not required to take this path.
This path explores the connection between “magic” and practical action. It will ask campers questions like: How do you define magic? How do you define action? Are the magical and the practical necessarily opposites? How do you use magic in your everyday life? Where in your life do you take responsibility? Where in your life do you need to take responsibility? Where do you need to take action and where do you need to let go?
This path will assist campers in forging the link between “deep work” and “profound service”. Once this connection is clear, it becomes easier to “step into our power” and bring magic more fully into our lives and into the world. We will make this connection by discussing the group’s understanding of practical magic, use trance work to develop and deepen the individual’s connection between their understanding of magic and its application to events and needs in their life. Campers who want to understand how magic relates to their everyday life will want to take this path. We would like to have campers with a questioning attitude and a willingness to take personal responsibility for their actions and magic to take this path.
This is a basic level course that will also appeal to experienced witches. There are no prerequisites, and the only tools needed are an open mind and willingness to explore.
We all want relationships that are loving, fun, passionate, deeply intimate, profound, joyous, silly, playful, peaceful, serene, challenging, lusty, and satisfying. Maybe with ourselves, maybe a best friend, a partner, an ally, lover, co-parent, friend for life, sister/brother, companion -- all of these require magic.
Magic always exists because we are profoundly related to each other. The dominant culture has taught us to fear connection and interdependence, when in fact it's the source of all power. Like Lillith, we in Reclaiming refuse to be trapped in power-over, seeking instead power-within and power-among. In intimate relationship we are each other's teachers and each other's students; we open our shields and reveal to our intimates the shadow and the magnificence that we've feared to show anyone else; we priestess ourselves and the relationship, we heal each other and co-create together.
In this path we celebrate the courage it takes to open to each other, and hone the skills we need to create deep long-lasting relationship. Success in intimate relationship is a combination of personal transformative experience and concrete skills that have to be practiced to be mastered and we will offer opportunities for both in this path.
This path is for people who want to increase their skills in building fun, passionate, and connected relationships, where conflict is an opportunity for growth and deepening intimacy -- whether or not they are currently in such a relationship.
Participants should have taken Elements of Magic, attended a Witchcamp, or in some other way learned the basic structure of ritual and trance.
